Brasileiros, frutos de um país tropical, estamos habituados à fartura de cores, graças à abundância de luz (solar). Na comida, na vegetação, nas pedras, nas roupas, nas peles das pessoas, nos deparamos com diversos tons de cores cujos nomes, muitas vezes, nem sabemos. Como canta Adriana Calcanhoto: “… passeio pelo mundo prestando atenção em cores que eu não sei o nome. Cores de Almodóvar, cores de Frida Kahlo, cores…”. Ficar de bom humor fica mais fácil nessas condições. Além disso, no que diz respeito à arte de vestir-se, de compor com o corpo, a abundância de luz e cores nos inspira a misturar peças de diferentes cores e tonalidades, contrastar estampas, colocar vários pontos de luz na roupa. Nem sempre.

Mesmo em um país tropical a sobriedade pode imperar. Há algum tempo venho considerando a mistura do preto com o branco o que há de mais rico para compor produções. Rico no sentido de fundamental, de base (não necessariamente básico). Talvez pela abundância de cores e de estampas do verão, me voltei para os tons mais neutros. Tenho achado interessante investir na variação mínima de tons e na atenção às texturas das peças. Misturar tecidos de diferentes texturas e da mesma cor resulta tão interessante! Claro que não precisa se vestir de atleticano todo dia. Há vários tons neutros. E as cores são super válidas! Mas vale o exercício de criar uma base mais neutra para as produções e investir em pontos de luz ao escolher os acessórios. E, claro, isso não é regra.

Nas minhas pesquisas sobre minimalismo, preto, branco, tons neutros, me deparei com dois blogs muito interessantes, que gostaria de indicar aqui: o Love Aesthetics (da holandesa Ivania Carpio) e o Sea of Ghosts (da australiana Alicia Naomi). Alicia afirma usar seu blog como uma forma de documentar seu processo de “refinamento de estilo”. Acho essa idéia de “refinar o estilo” incrível. Acredito que todo sujeito poderia investir nessa empreitada interessante.

As Brazilians, we are used to experiencing a world full of colors of various tonalities thanks to the abundance of sunlight (specially in the North region of the country. It’s summer all year round). The food, the plants, the clothes, the stones, people’s skin tones, all tend to be very colorful (not that people are green or purple, of course). Sometimes we can’t even name all the color tones we see. It is true that it’s easier to be in a good mood when you’re surrounded by colors and sunlight. Getting dressed, we might feel more inspired to mix prints and colors, create various points of light in a single production. But… not always or, maybe, not forever. Sobriety and minimalism can reign in a tropical country, at least for a few. Lately, being tired of so many colorful clothes presented in Brazilian stylist’s collections (we have our Fashion Weeks), I have been investing in clothes in neutral tones and trying to mix pieces of different textures. I’ve found out that the world of neutral tones is infinite and, if you’re creative enough, you might find lots of possibilites before you. Of course you can use colors, but investing on neutral tones when getting dressed can be a good exercise for anyone who thinks about style. Researching about minimalism, black, white, neutral tones, etc., I found two very interesting blogs: Love Aesthetics (by Ivania Carpio, from the Netherlands) and Sea of Ghosts (by Alicia Naomi, from Australia). Alicia states that her blog is a way of documenting her process of “refining her style”. I find this idea very interesting and I believe anyone could go through this “refinery process”.
